February, 2008 - Firefighter Rescue & Survival Class
Over two weekends in February firefighters from Flowes Store, Harrisburg, Jackson Park, and Odell participated in a Firefighter Rescue and Survival Class. Firefighters learned a variety of survival techniques along with rescuing a down firefighter. Among the exercises were properly calling “Mayday”, quick escape from a building onto a ladder, confined space maneuverability, an entanglement scenario, and search and rescue of a down firefighter. Most scenarios were done in black-out conditions where the firefighters could not see.
