October 27, 2008 -
Multiple Vehicle Accident
While in the area, Flowes Store was requested to assist Midland
with a multiple vehicle accident. Command was established by Midland 9
and Flowes Store Engine 1 provided a traffic block and assisted with
patient care.

August 27, 2008 –
Water Rescue
Flowes
Store was dispatched to assist Harrisburg, along with the Cabarrus County Water
Rescue Team, with various water rescues and evacuations in Harrisburg. Crews
worked
for over a 9 hour period after heavy rains flooded numerous areas in Cabarrus
County.

February, 2008 - Firefighter Rescue & Survival Class
Over two weekends
in February firefighters from Flowes Store, Harrisburg, Jackson Park,
and Odell participated in a Firefighter Rescue and Survival
Class. Firefighters learned a variety of survival techniques along with
rescuing a down firefighter. Among the exercises were properly calling
“Mayday”, quick escape from a building onto a ladder, confined space
maneuverability, an entanglement scenario, and search and rescue of a
down firefighter. Most scenarios were done in black-out conditions where
the firefighters could not see.

February 10, 2008 - Brush fire
While doing Firefighter rescue and survivor training, Flowes Store was
dispatched to a brush fire with weather conditions of 30-40 MPH winds.
Flowes Store Brush 1 and Engine 2 along with Harrisburg Engine 3
responded. Flowes Store 13 established command. Despite the high wind
conditions the fire was quickly controlled and
extinguished. Firefighters from other departments (Jackson Park and
Odell) who were taking the class aided in extinguishing the fire.

February 10, 2008 - MVA with rollover
Several Flowes Store units and Harrisburg Engine 2 responded to a single
vehicle rollover with an ejected patient. Flowes Store 9 established
command. Patient was treated at the scene and transported to the
hospital via EMS.

February 8, 2008 - MVA
Flowes Store Engine 1 responded to a 2 car MVA on Lower Rocky River
Rd. Flowes Store 12 established command of the scene. One patient was
transported to the Hospital via EMS.
